aneo allegations include night-time meetings between the officer and the candidate, campaigning on social media in favor of the candidate, and financial transactions. Jamaat also demanded his immediate removal and impartial investigation into the matter.
The party further alleged that election code of conduct is being violated in several ways. These include use of colored symbols beyond permitted limits, using microphones after the prohibited 2 pm timeframe, conducting campaign activities at religious places like mosques, and providing medical camps to voters as an inducement. Written evidence and photographs related to these issues have been submitted to the Election Commission.
Jamaat leaders also reported incidents of violence and intimidation. According to them, Jamaat activists, women voters, and Hindu community members have been attacked or made to feel fearful in various polling areas. These incidents, they say, have created an atmosphere of fear among voters. The party also questioned the effective role of police and border guard forces in maintaining law and order, stating that merely increasing the number of personnel would not ensure a neutral election without impartial conduct by administrative officials.
In this context, Jamaat has demanded deployment of Bangladesh Army’s motayen (volunteers) alongside police at polling stations to ensure voter security. They argue that the responsibility for maintaining a neutral election environment lies primarily with the Election Commission and the administration.
Regarding the Election Commission’s response, Jamaat stated that their memorandum has been received and local-level measures are being assured. However, the party expressed that they cannot fully trust the Commission’s statements at this stage.
Jamaat has made clear that they have not withdrawn from the election and their candidate is ready to participate. They emphasize that ensuring a free, fair, peaceful, and acceptable election is the responsibility of the Election Commission and concerned administration. The party has put forward three main demands: impartial investigation and legal action against those accused in the alleged irregularities, deployment of police and motayen for voter security at polling centers, and necessary measures after verifying the neutrality of concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officers.
